A request from noted historian Pam Fox, author of several brilliant books on Jewish history, for information on and anecdotes about the East End's famous Grodzinski bakery business.
If you can help, please contact Pam via her Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pam.fox.108

She writes: I have recently started work on my new book, which will be the history of the famous Grodzinski bakery.

Established in London’s East End in 1891, it became the largest kosher bakery in Europe. It was continuously family owned and run through five generations before the remaining shops were eventually sold in 2022.

In researching and writing the book, I will be working in close partnership with several members of the Grodzinski family who have extensive knowledge of the evolution of the bakery and the family’s history. They have also created impressive archives, to which they have kindly offered me full access.

As with my previous Jewish history books, including those on Bloom’s restaurant, the Jewish hotels and guest houses of Bournemouth, the Rinkoff bakery and the Jewish community of Golders Green, another major source of information for the book will be the stories and memories of people who knew the Grodzinski bakery in some way – members of the extended family, staff, customers and suppliers.

I will therefore be very grateful if you could share with me on my Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/pam.fox.108 ) any interesting information and anecdotes you may have and contact me if you are willing to be interviewed. These contributions will be pivotal in bringing alive the Grodzinski story.

Thank you in advance for your help and support.
